NEW DELHI: Indian Premier League side SunRisers Hyderabad on Tuesday announced that it has retained J&K’s cricketing duo of Abdul Samad and Umran Malik (both uncapped) at 4 crores each for the upcoming IPL 2022 season.
This will be explosive batter Abdul Samad’s third season with SRH. Samad is currently a part of J&K’s Vijay Hazare squad as the team’s vice captain. Jammu speedster, Umran Malik made his scintillating debut in the last IPL season and is currently with India ‘A’ side touring South Africa.
Meanwhile, SRH retained Kane Williamson for 14 crore and will lead the side. The side, however, have let go of superstar names like David Warner, Jonny Bairstow, and Rashid Khan. Afghan spinner, seen as one of the best T20 talents out there, left the IPL franchise as the two parties could not come to terms.
“Thank you all for your support! Hopefully, at some point our paths cross again in the future,” wrote Jonny Bairstow.
“Thanks to all of you for your support over the years, up and downs, my family and I can’t stress enough how much we appreciated the love and passion you showed towards us and the team. Candice and I truly wish all the fans the very best for the future and hope whoever you wish to support the best. Love the Warner’s,” wrote David Warner.
