Srinagar- The patients at Valley’s sole trauma hospital –the Bone and Joint Barzulla, on Tuesday were seen standing in long queues as two of the three X-Ray Machines at the Hospital were not functioning due to “technical” fault.
The patients were writhing with pain as they were standing in que,waiting for their turn.
Many attendants could be seen carrying their patients to the private x-ray labs outside the hospital.
“You can see my patient is not in a position to move out, but we are forced to go for an X-ray outside as the machine hasn’t been made functional,” said Mohammad Ramza, an attendant from Srinagar.
While patients had a tough time amidst unbearable cold weather, the administration of the hospital said that the matter is being looked into and machines would be made functional at the earliest.
Talking to Kashmir Observer, Medical Superintendent Dr Suhail Mian accepted that two out of three machines are not functioning and the administration will fix the issues as soon as possible.
“One of the X-ray machines stopped working due to an electrical fault and we will get one restored by tomorrow; the other one may take some time” he said.
He said the sensor of another machine got damaged and we have placed an order for the same. When asked how long it is going to take he said “we never know, it may take a while”.
Sources from the hospital told Kashmir Observer that x-ray machines at the hospital are very old and prone to damage.
on 15 January 2015, both the machines in the hospital had gone defunct and the admin couldn’t repair it for months.
On 14 January 2018, the machine at the hospital once again lay defunct for several months as authorities failed to repair it on time.
