Srinagar: Two more people in Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday died of Covid-19 related complications while 179 fresh cases of infection were reported from the Union Territory during the last 24 hours.
According to the officials, one fresh death each from Kashmir and Jammu division was reported on Tuesday, taking the overall fatality count due to pandemic in J&K to 4464—2183 in Jammu and 2281 in Kashmir.
Of the new cases of infection, officials said 149 were registered in Kashmir Valley and the remaining 30 from Jammu division thus raising the number of people infected by virus to 335707.
In the Valley, officials said, Srinagar reported a highest 64 fresh cases of coronavirus, Baramulla 35, Budgam 17, Ganderbal 10, Kupwara 8, Bandipora 6, Kulgam and Pulwama 4 each and one new case in Anantnag district. Shopian was the only district in the Valley where no fresh case of infection was reported.
In the winter capital, officials said, Jammu reported a maximum of 19 new cases of coronavirus; Rajouri and Poonch 3 each while one new case each was detected in Udhampur, Doda, Kathua, Samba and Reasi. No cases were reported from Kishtwar and Ramban districts.
“Moreover, 195 Covid-19 patients recovered during the time, 31 from Jammu Division and 164 from Kashmir,” they added.
