Srinagar: Police on Tuesday claimed to have solved murder case of Kashmir Pandit trader’s salesman by arresting three people from south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
Aejaz Ahmad Lone, Naseer Ahmad Shah and Showkat Ahmad Dar, all residents of Lelhar in Pulwama were arrested by a special investigation team of police constituted to probe the killing of Ibrahim Ahmad, a salesman of Kashmiri Pandit trader Sandeep Mawa in Bohri Kadal area of the Old City on November 9, a police spokesperson said.
Police, he said, had also filed a case FIR No. 86/2021 at the police station Maharaj Gunj to investigate the case.
During the course of investigation, he said, officers learnt about the involvement of three accused in shooting dead the salesman.
“Subsequently, they were arrested in the instant case and during questioning they confessed about their involvement in the commission of said crime,” he said.
According to the police spokesperson, preliminary investigations have revealed that the trio linked with Lashkar-e-Taiba (TRF) have killed Ahmad on the directions of “terrorist handler” from across the border.
He said it was further revealed that the accused have been in touch with Pak based handlers for last 4 months.
“On their disclosure, weapon of offence – pistol along with 7 rounds and other incriminating materials including a grenade have been recovered from their possession,” the police spokesperson said.
Besides, he said, the Alto car which was used during the commission of crime on the day of attack has also been seized on their disclosure.
“Further investigation in the case is in progress,” he added.
