SRINAGAR: The Jammu & Kashmir senior men’s football team was on Sunday held to a 1-1 draw against Chandigarh in its opening match of 75th Santosh Trophy National Football Championship (NFC) North Zone leg being played at Chandigarh.
Shakir gave J&K an early lead, scoring in the 7th minute of the match. J&K, however, failed to hold on to it and allowed Chandigarh to score the equaliser in the 37th minute through Surveen. The second half of the match saw both teams fail to find the back of the net. The match ended 1-1.
The draw will be a bitter pill for the formidable J&K team to swallow and all eyes will be on the coaching staff as J&K face Services next on Tuesday, November 23.
Chandigarh football team is led by chief coach Harjinder Singh, assisted by a Kashmiri senior coach Muzamil Mehmood.
