- Only athlete from India to qualify for Beijing Olympics this year
- JKSC, others hail Tangmarg-born Arif Khan’s feat
SRINAGAR: J&K’s alpine skier Arif Khan has been heralded for securing a place in the Beijing Winter Olympics 2022. Hailing from Kashmir Valley’s Tangmarg, Arif Khan confirmed his place in the games on the basis of exceptional display of skills in qualifying Alpine Skiing event held in Dubai recently.
Arif is the only athlete from the country to have qualified for Beijing Olympics this year. The Winter Olympic games are scheduled to be held from February 4 to 20 next year.
Complimenting Khan, Secretary Sports Council said that Arif has been a wonderful talent throughout his career. “With around 100 International events under his belt I am sure of his success. Riding on the experience that Arif has achieved over the years, I am hopeful of his grand show in the Olympics,” she added.
Winter Games Association of J&K (WGAJK) has also hailed Arif Khan for making it to Olympics and making whole country proud.
Mohammad Yousuf General Secretary, J&K Winter Games Association said, “we are proud of him and it is a dream come true for he has been working very hard to reach this far”.
