Srinagar: Coronavirus claimed the lives of two more people in Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday while 187 fresh cases of infection were detected across the Union Territory during the last 24 hours.
According to officials, two more people succumbed to the deadly infection in Kashmir Valley on Saturday, raising the overall fatality count in J&K to 4461—2182 in Jammu and 2279 in Kashmir.
About the new cases, the officials said 163 were reported from the Valley while the remaining 24 were detected from different parts of Jammu division, taking the total number of people infected since last year in J&K to 335203.
In the Valley, officials said, Srinagar reported highest 61 new cases of coronavirus, Baramulla 56, Ganderbal 15, Bandipora 9, Budgam 8, Kupwara 6, Anantnag 4, Pulwama 2 and one new case each in Kulgam and Shopian districts.
In the winter capital, officials said, Jammu reported a maximum of 19 new Covid-19 cases, Reasi 2 and one new case each was detected in Doda, Poonch and Kishtwar districts. The five districts of Udhampur, Rajouri, Kathua, Samba and Ramban reported no fresh cases of virus on Saturday.
“Moreover, 158 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and been discharged from various hospitals including 34from Jammu Division and 124 from Kashmir Division,” the officials said.
They further added that no new case of Mucormycosis was reported during the last 24 hours.
