Srinagar: The Fire and Emergency Services Department has deployed fire-fighters along with vehicles in Lal Ded, CD and other hospitals as a precautionary measure.
These hospitals have been provided facilities after shortcomings during fire audits in government hospitals endangering the lives of the people.
The Fire and Emergency Services Department has completed fire audits of five major hospitals in Srinagar city including Skims Soura, Super Specialty Hospital Sheerin Bagh, Saddar Hospital Srinagar, Kashmir Nursing Home and other hospitals.
As per the recommendations, Lal Ded Hospital was directed to take some steps to prevent fire. But after 3 years, the installation of the fire safety system has not been completed. In such a situation, a fire truck and 6 staff members have been deployed at Lal Deed Hospital. A similar vehicle will be stationed at CD Hospital. As a precaution, the staff will be stationed in hospitals
Similarly, after the Fire and Emergency Department conducted a fire audit at Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Hospital, Rainawari 10 years ago, steps taken to prevent fire were not sufficient.
“No significant fire protection system has been set up at Rainawari Hospital for the last 10 years,” the audit said—(KNO)
