SRINAGAR: Kashmir Valley’s top footballing talent, Danish Farooq was on Sunday named in Bengaluru FC’s 32-man squad for the upcoming Indian Super League 2021-22 season.
The 25-year-old attacking midfielder/winger was signed on a two-year contract earlier this year and formed an integral part of the team during its unsuccessful run in the AFC Cup playoff stages.
A product of J&K Bank Football Academy, Danish has been a part of championship-winning teams like J&K Bank XI and Real Kashmir FC.
Coached by German-Italian Marco Pezzaiuoli, Bengaluru FC is all set to face NorthEast United on November 20.
“It’s a good group that has a nice mix of youngsters and foreigners, and a good base of Indian internationals. There are a lot of different personalities in this squad, who will bring important things to the team,” head coach Pezzaiuoli told PTI.
“All the parts will have to come together to form the big picture and the effort is on to make it happen soon,” he added.
This will be Danish’s first season in the ISL, having previously played in I-League with Lonestar Kashmir FC and Real Kashmir FC. In three I-League seasons Danish has made 48 appearances, with seven goals and five assists to his name.
