Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir government on Friday suspended an assistant regional transport officer (ARTO) and two of his subordinates in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.
ARTO Kupwara, Mohammad Mukhtar Sofi and Motor Vehicle Inspectors Khursheed Ahmad Kanna and Abdul Hamid Bhat were placed under suspension and were attached with the Office of Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir by Manoj Kumar Dwivedi (IAS), Commissioner/Secretary to the Government on Friday.
“Pending enquiry, the (three) officer/officials of Transport Department are hereby placed under suspension, with immediate effect, in terms of Rule-31 of the Jammu and Kashmir Civil Services (Classification, Control & Appeal) Rules. 1956,” reads the order issued by Dwivedi.
The order further directed the Transport Department to initiate departmental proceedings (RDA—regular departmental inquiry) against the suspended officer/officials in terms of extant rules.
The officials have been suspended over corruption charges. The anti-corruption bureau (ACB) has already filed a case FIR No 09/2021 in this regard.
