Tragedy on Wagha Border

The attack on the flag hoisting ceremony at Wagha border is just another proof for the fact that there is no security as such. How much money is even spent, how many people are ever employed – suicide attacks cannot be avoided because of basic flaw in setting training priority to be vigilant 24 hours on public security than VIP Protocol mobiles duty.
The special tragedy of the attack lies in the fact that it happened on the 8th of Muharram when Muslims at large remember the sacrifice of the grandson of the Holy prophet of Islam. The death of 60 people and the injuries of over a hundred are an unwelcome way to remember that sacrifice.
Given the volatile security situation during the first ten days of Muharram the authorities could have considered to cancel the ceremony during these particular days instead of announcing three days of mourning for the victims and start afresh bickering over in which jurisdiction the territory belongs – Police or Rangers?
It was strange to see on Monday the 9th Moharam again a sizeable crowd on the  Pakistani side of Wagha arriving to witness the flag lowering ceremony which was also witnessed by Corps Commander and D.G. Rangers. Even the Indian administration expressed surprise on this and as a goodwill gesture India had also announced a 3 day close of the flag lowering activity to mourn the loss of life on the Pakistani side.
Thinking people are intrigued by the chess game being played not keeping the sanctity of Ashura and then showing difference on the unity issue.
