Srinagar- The death of KTV editor Shahid Masood Bukhari on Sunday was widely condoled by civil society and political groups in Kashmir. The veteran journalist died of a heart attack.
Hailing from the Qazipora, Tangmarg in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, Bukhari has been in the field of journalism for decades and had also worked with the public broadcasters All India Radio, earlier called Radio Kashmir, and Doordarshan.
Bukhari’s demise was condoled by various media organisations.
Mohammad Aslam Bhat, on behalf of the Jammu and Kashmir Editors Forum, expressed grief and said that Bukhari will be always be remembered for his contributions to journalism. His death was also condoled by the Jammu and Kashmir Journalists Association, and the Directorate of Information and Public Relations.
The Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress committee (JKPCC) President Ghulam Ahmad Mir expressed grief and solidarity with the bereaved family. “I was deeply shocked to learn about the death of Shahid Bukhari, have no words to express my grief,” he said.
Senior leader of the Apni Party and also a resident of Tangmarg, Ghulam Hasan Mir termed Bukhari’s demise as extremely unfortunate and expressed solidarity with the bereaved family members.
“His unexpected demise has left everyone in deep shock besides creating a huge void hard to be filled. His immense contributions as a sincere journalist and humble human being shall always be remembered for times to come,” said Mir.
Abdul Qayoom Wani, former president of the Employees Joint Action Committee also expressed grief on Bukhari’s demise.
