SRINAGAR: In the ongoing Premier Division League 2021, two matches were played on Wednesday at Synthetic Turf, TRC here.
In the first match, ARCO FC took on Sports Council Football Academy (SCFA) XI. ARCO, who were strong favourites against the young JKSC Academy team, scored early on in the 12th minute. Ishfaq Teli seized on the opportunity to give his team the lead.
SCFA played well and created some chances in both halves of the match. However, ARCO defended astutely and retained possession of the ball regularly. The match ended 1-0 in favour of ARCO FC and the team’s Kamran was awarded man of the match.
The second PDL match of the day was played between the two departmental teams of J&K Accountant General’s (AG’s) XI and J&K Forest XI.
The AG’s XI proved its class once again as they thumped Forest XI for five goals in the match. Shahnawaz Bashir opened the flood gates by scoring the first goal for AG’s XI in the 12th minute. Amanjot scored the team’s second in 42nd minute. At half-time the score read 2-0.
Shahnawaz then scored two more goals in second half minutes of 45 and 71, completing his hat trick in the process. Ifham scored the fifth goal for AG’s XI in the 77th minute.
Naseer Ahmad of J&K Forest XI made it 5-1 before the referee blew the final whistle. The match ended AG’s XI 5 – J&K Forest 1. Shahnawaz Bashir was awarded man of the match for his brilliant performance.
Meanwhile, in the Pele of Kashmir KO tournament, Old City FC defeated Court Road FC 1-0 in the knockout rounds on Tuesday. The Pele of Kashmir tournament is being organised by Player Welfare Forum Idgah in collaboration with JKFA.
