Srinagar: The sleuths of anti-corruption bureau (ACB) on Wednesday arrested a revenue department official from central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district for demanding and accepting a bribe from a man for carrying out inheritance mutation of his land.
Showkat Ahmad Lone, Patwari Halqa, Hari Ganwan Gund was arrested by ACB after a complaint was filed with the anti-graft body alleging that the revenue official was demanding Rs 2000 as bribe for affecting the inheritance mutation (Warasati Intiqal) of land in favour of the complainant, an ACB spokesperson said Wednesday.
Earlier, he said, the bureau had registered a case FIR No. 33/2021 U/S 7 PC Act 1988 at the Police Station ACB Srinagar after receiving the complaint against Lone.
During the course of investigation, he said, a team was constituted that laid a successful trap and caught the revenue official red-handed while demanding and accepting the bribe money from the complainant.
“He was arrested and taken into custody by the ACB Team. Further investigation into the case is going on,” the ACB spokesperson said.
