Srinagar: In an ongoing crackdown against the government employees allegedly involved in anti-national activities, the Jammu and Kashmir administration on Tuesday sacked a Deputy Superintendent of jails and a principal of a government school over their alleged links with the militants.
Feroz Ahmad Lone, Deputy Superintendent, Jail and Javid Ahmad Shah, Principal, Government Girls Higher Secondary School Anantnag were terminated from the services on the orders of the Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha.
“The Lieutenant Governor is satisfied after considering the facts and circumstances of the case and on the basis of the information available that the activities of Mr. Feroz Ahmad Lone, Deputy Superintendent, Jail S/o Abdul Gaffar Lone R/o Futlipora, Chrari Sharief, Budgam are such as to warrant his dismissal from service,” reads the order
“The Lieutenant Governor is satisfied under sub-clause (c) of the proviso to clause (2) of Article 311 of the Constitution of India that in the interest of the security of the State, it is not expedient to hold an enquiry in the case of Mr. Feroz Ahmad Lone, Superintendent, Jail S/o Abdul Gaffar Lone R/o Futlipora, Chrari Sharief, Budgam,” it adds.
Accordingly, the Lieutenant Governor ordered dismissal of Feroz Ahmad Lone from service, with immediate effect.
According to reports, Lone, who was appointed in 2007-08 in the Prisons Department and finally got a job in 2012 after a prolonged court case, was alleged to be working for militant groups.
He was arrested by the National Investigation Agency in 2017 and since then continued to be on suspension.
According to the NIA, Lone had facilitated a meeting between two youths, Danish Ghulam Lone and Sohail Ahmad Bhat, and arrested militant Ishfaq Palla at the behest of commander of the banned Hizbul Mujahideen, Riyaz Naikoo.
According to the conspiracy, the two youths were to go to Pakistan, receive arms training and return to the Kashmir.
However, before they could leave, the two were nabbed by the police in 2017 and the case was subsequently taken over by the NIA. During interrogation, the youths named Lone, who was arrested by the central probe agency and sent to jail. He is at present out on bail but has not been reinstated.
In a similar order, the LG dismissed Javid Ahmad Shah, Principal, Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Bijbehara, Anantnag son of Late Abdul Gani Shah of Eidgah, Bijbehara, Anantnag. The number of employees sacked using the special provisions has gone up to 29 this year.
Shah, who was appointed as a lecturer in 1989, later became principal of the Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Bijbehara in Anantnag. He is alleged to be a hardcore militant supporter and an ardent sympathiser of Hurriyat and the banned Jamat-e-Islami (JeI), the officials said, according to PTI.
The dismissal of police officer and school principal comes almost a fortnight after government invoked similar provisions of the constitution and terminated services of late Syed Ali Geelani’s grandson Anees-ul-Islam and Farooq Ahmad Bhat, a teacher from Doda district of the Union Territory.
Anees was a Research Officer in Sher-e-Kashmir International Convention Centre (SKICC).
Prominent among those dismissed from service earlier were the two sons of Hizbul Mujahideen chief Syed Salahuddin and tainted deputy superintendent of police Devender Singh who was caught with a most wanted militant and two others along the Srinagar-Jammu national highway. (With PTI inputs)
