Srinagar: Coronavirus claimed the lives of four more people in Jammu and Kashmir on Monday while 98 fresh cases of infection were reported from the Union Territory during the last 24 hours.
According to reports, three among the victims were residents of Srinagar and one from central Kashmir’s Budgam district. With these deaths, the overall fatality count in J&K has reached 4436—2176 in Jammu and 2260 in Kashmir
Also, the officials said, 98 fresh cases of novel coronavirus were reported from J&K. While 84 new cases were detected from Kashmir Valley, the remaining 14 were confirmed from Jammu division, thus taking the total number of people infected by the virus in J&K to 332347.
In the Valley, officials said, Srinagar reported the highest 56 cases followed by Baramulla with 10, Ganderbal 8, Kupwara 5, Budgam 4 and Bandipora. No fresh case of virus was reported from the four south Kashmir districts of Pulwama, Anantnag, Kulgam and Shopian.
In the winter capital, officials said Jammu reported a maximum of seven new cases, Doda two and one new case each from Udhampur, Rajouri, Kishtwar, Ramban and Reasi. Kathua , Samba and Poonch registered no new cases of Covid-19.
“Moreover, 97 Covid-19 patients recovered during the time, 17 from Jammu Division and 80 from Kashmir,” officials said.
