Srinagar: There was a slight rise in night temperature across Kashmir Valley on Saturday with the famous tourist resort of Pahalgam minus 2.0 degree Celsius, officials said.
A meteorological department official here said that Srinagar recorded a minimum temperature of 2.9 degree Celsius against 2.6 degree Celsius on previous night.
Qazigund recorded a low of 2.8 degree Celsius against previous night’s 2.6 degree Celsius, the official said.
Pahalgam, the famous resort in south Kashmir, recorded a low of minus 2.0 degree Celsius against minus 2.4 degree Celsius on previous night, he said.
Kokernag, also in south Kashmir, recorded a minimum of 3.3 degree Celsius against 3.2 degree Celsius on previous night, the official said.
Kupwara town of north Kashmir recorded a low of 1.1 degree Celsius against 0.2 degree Celsius on the previous night, the official said.
Gulmarg skiing resort in north Kashmir, recorded a minimum of 0.0 degree Celsius the same as on the previous night, the official said.
On Friday, the meteorological department predicted another spell of snow and rainfall across Jammu and Kashmir from Monday next week.
“From November 1-2, light snowfall will occur at higher places while the plains will receive rainfall. The fresh spell will lead to a drop in mercury,” Deputy Director, Meteorological Department, Mukhtar Ahmed told Kashmir Observer. On Friday
In Srinagar, he had said, the minimum temperature will remain around 2-3 degree Celsius. However, he said, the cold weather conditions will intensify in the upper reaches of the Valley.
