SRINAGAR: A resident of Old City was critically injured after unknown persons attacked him with acid in Nowhatta area here, police sources said.
According to these sources two unknown persons threw acid on Hilal Ahmad Mir, son of Ghulam Qadir Mi, resident of Gurgari Mohalla Zaina Kadal at Nowhatta in Old City that this morning at around 10:30 am.
The victim, they said, was immediately rushed to nearby SMHS hospital where he is being treated upon.
The motive behind the attack was not immediately clear nor were the attackers identified.
Meanwhile, police have registered a case in this regard and have started investigations, sources added.
In recent years, this is for the first time that a person has been attacked with acid in the city. (GNS)
