DPS Srinagar win 5 gold, 1 silver
SRINAGAR: ‘First ever’ Under-15 Inter School Badminton Tournament concluded on Tuesday, October 19 at G. D. Goenka Public School Srinagar (GDGPS) campus here.
An awards ceremony was held on the final day in which Imtiyaz Kawoosa, Vice-Chairman GDGPS, was the chief guest. He congratulated all the winners and handed them medals and certificates.
The three-day tournament began October 16 and was organized by the GDGPS. Players from Delhi Public School Srinagar, Doon International School, Tyndale Biscoe School, Mallinson Girls School and GDGPS participated in the tournament. A total of 30 players from all five schools took part in the event.
The competition was broadly divided into two categories: singles and doubles, while no participant was allowed to participate in more than one category to increase the level of competition.
In an exhilarating performance, DPS Srinagar secured 5 gold and 1 silver medals in the tournament. The host school secured 1 gold and 3 silver medals while Doon International School secured three bronze, and Mallinson Girls School earned one bronze medal.
