SRINAGAR: Giving another hint that it was ready to hold assembly polls in Jammu and Kashmir on due date, Election Commission of India (ECI) has asked the state government to dispose of all the important files as soon as possible.
KNS quoting unnamed sources reported that a communication was received by the J&K government in this regard from the ECI. Immediately after receiving the communication, the government asked the administrative heads of respective departments to immediately dispose of all the important files in next few days, they said.
It is pertinent to mention here that since the Chief Election Commissioner VK Sampath hinted a few days back that elections in the state would be held in December, several senior bureaucrats and politicians from New Delhi have visited the state.
Union Home Secretary Anil Goswami who was here on Monday held a series of meetings with Chief Secretary Iqbal Khanday, DGP K Rajendra and other senior civil and police officers. During these meetings he took stock of the overall security situation in the state, a senior official told KNS.
He (Goswami) also assessed the pace of the post flood relief and rehabilitation process and asked the state authorities to expedite the process so that the victims can be rehabilitated soon, they said.
