SRINAGAR: Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman Syed Ali Geelani has called for a day long strike on October 23 against the arrival of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Kashmir.
The prime minister is arriving here to celebrate the festival of Diwali with the flood affected people of the state.
Hurriyat (G) spokesman Ayaz Akbar in a tele-statement stated that the amalgam has called for a one day strike and peaceful protests on October 23 against the visit of PM Modi.
Akbar said that the reasons behind the strike is that GOI acted as the mute spectators amid worst ever floods in Kashmir and did nothing to mitigate the sufferings of the affected on ground. Akbar said another reason for the strike call is the communal mindset of PM Narendra Modi.
Akbar maintained that Modi did not felicitate Muslims on Eid, his celebrating Diwali in the Muslim majority state is unacceptable. KNS
