RBA Medicos Posted in Backward Areas

SRINAGAR: In its bid to provide health services in state’s far-off areas, the government transferred medicos appointed under Resident of Backward Area (RBA) category so that their services could be utilized in their own respective areas.

As scores of doctors appointed under RBA category were discharging their duties in Srinagar, voices were being raised from various corners that serious scarcity of medical services was being felt in JK’s far-off regions.

According to the KNS correspondent, the state authorities while taking note of the issue finally ordered the transfers and postings of 32 medicos to their own regions so that their services could be utilized there.

Out of the 32, doctors transferred to their own regions, 16 are the female medicos with authorities claiming that the orders have been issued in accordance to the JK Reservations Act, 2004.

Reports maintained that the government acted tough upon the complaints that the RBA medicos selected for the training due to RBA reservation and also their appointments were made because of such category, are discharging their duties in Srinagar and other areas while ignoring their own areas. Also various reported earlier were received by the state authorities over the serious dearth of the medical services in JK’s various far-off regions.

Deputy Secretary Health and Medical Education on October 20, 2014 issued order over the transfer and posting of Medical Officers appointed under the RBA category. The government in a two page order maintained that doctors who at present are undergoing PG course in GMC, Srinagar shall join their place of posting after completion of their PG course. (KNS)
