SRINAGAR- The Divisional Covid Control Room Kashmir (DCCRK) under the aegis of Divisional Administration Kashmir on Monday organised a one day Sensitization programme on Covid Appropriate Behavior (CAB) and Vaccination for the Principals of Crèche/Day-Care Schools of district Srinagar at Oasis Educational Institute, Gogji Bagh, here.
The programme was inaugurated by Tahir Ahmad Magray, Incharge DCCRK.
Speaking on the occasion, Magray emphasized the importance of offline education in the institutions, which came to halt due to the Covid-19 pandemic. He said that in-campus school education not only gives a two way communication between the child and the teacher but also helps in the personality development besides providing moral education to the students.
He also briefed about the repercussions of continuous online teaching mode which has brought not only screen dependency in children but has led to rise in many mental health issues in the children.
The highlights of the programme were the technical sessions conducted by Dr. Umar Nazir and Dr. Rouf Hussain Rather, Community Medicine Specialists, GMC Srinagar. Through their detailed PowerPoint Presentations, the Public Health Experts explained the ways and methods to maintain CAB and importance of vaccination of staff to contain the spread of virus at the campuses.
Teachers have to themselves be the role models regarding CAB and vaccination and encourage others influential people to be the messengers of CAB and vaccination in the society.
Re-Open Schools To Reduce Mental Stress Of Children: PSAJK
President PSAJK, G. N. Var, on Monday said that the Private schools association has a dedicated team in all districts working for the welfare of private schools and striving to provide quality education to the children despite all odds.
Var said that private schools are currently suffering badly and many schools are at the verge of closure due to financial crises. Var demanded that the Government should allow schools to function normally as has been allowed in many parts of the country and health experts have time and again recommended reopening of schools.
Var asked that when states like Maharashtra and Kerala, where Covid cases were in large number, can re-open schools, why J&K Government is not issuing such orders.
He said that continuous closure of schools has badly affected the mental health of children and if students are kept away from their schools for more time, it can prove dangerous for kids. He retreated that it is time that schools should be thrown open again and children be allowed to learn in open environments of educational institutions.
