Chrar-i-Sharief (Budgam) -The Minister for Finance and Ladakh Affairs, Mr Ab Rahim Rather in presence of the Minister for Higher education, Mr Mohd Akber Lone inaugurated Rs 90 cr. Government Model Degree College at Chrar-i-Sharief. The college spreading on sprawling 105 kanals of land is one among 4 model Degree colleges being set up in the State to provide modern higher education facilities to the students at their door steps.
Addressing a mammoth public gathering on this occasion, Mr Rather said a modern Sheikh-ul-Alam Auditorium and Re-search Centre is also being set up adjacent to the college to evaluate and propagate teachings of the revered sufi saint Hazrat sheikh Noor-ud-Din Wali (RA) at national and inter-National levels. He said about 20 kanals of land costing over Rs.3.50 cr. have already been acquired for this purpose adding that the research centre will be ,in due course of time, developed into a full-fledged Sheikh-ul-Alam university. He announced a grant of Rs 2 cr. for construction of the outer boundary wall of the college premises and canteen building adding that all the need based subjects will be introduced in the college, beginning with the science steam from the coming month of March. Rather said the historic Chrar-i-Sharief town is the crown of my chrar-i-sharief constituency vowing to make it a model centre of knowledge , education, research and excellence.
The college premise was constructed by a dedicated team of the engineers of R & B Division, Chadoora in record one and a half years time which is one year ahead of the scheduled time frame.
Besides a large number of students ,faculty members, prominent citizens, Mirwaiz (Head Imam) of Jamia Khankah Maula, Molvi Amir-ud- Din Shah, District Development Commissioner, Budgam, Manzoor Ahmad Lone, Director Higher education, Dr.Tariq Kawoosa, Senior Superintendent of Police, Budgam, Irshad Ahmad, Executive Engineer R&B, Chadoora, Mr Mohd Hashim, Project Officer Chrari sharief, Mr Bashir Ahmad and concerned officers were also present on the occasion.
Responding to the demands of people,Mr Rather announced to construct a Mini Secretariate Complex at chrar-i-sharief at a cost of Rs.16 cr. to house all the departments under one roof adding that mandatory Blue print and Administrative Approval for this purpose has already been granted.
Speaking on the occasion ,the Higher eduction Minister assured all possible logistic support to set up Sheikh-ul-Alam Auditorium and Research Centre in chrar-i-sharief adding that propagation of the teachings of Sheikh Noor-ud-Din Wali (RA) and conducting exhaustive research work on it was need of the hour. He announced to grant funds out of pool funds to meet the manpower requirements of the college to begin with.
Later, the Finance Minister also inaugurated a modern Guest House cum Inspection Hut constructed by J&K Housing Board near Satellite town chrar-i-sharief. The Guest House has been constructed at a cost of Rs.65 lakhs.
