NEW DELHI: India has taken up with United Kingdom the proposed anti-India rally to be held on British soil.
Replying to a media query in New Delhi on Monday, External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Syed Akbaruddin said Minister Mrs Sushma Swaraj raised the matter with British Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg during her recent visit to the United Kingdom. Mr Akbaruddin said it needs to be ensured that nothing is allowed to happen which is inimical to the interests of the two countries.
He said the government has got an assurance through its interlocutors that Britain feels issues between India and Pakistan can best be resolved by them.
A rally calling for independence of Kashmir from India is to take place in central London on 26th of this month. A similar anti-India protest rally has also been planned at Brussels the next day.
