Held in memory of Late Farooq Ahmad Bhat
SRINAGAR: ‘Pele of Kashmir’ League cum Knockout Football Tournament 2021 kick started at Eidgah Playfield on Sunday here.
A total of 20 Super Division clubs are set to participate in the tournament, which will be held in two stages. In the first stage, 12 teams will compete in a league format divided into four groups. The top four teams from all the groups will join another eight Super Division clubs in the second stage of KO tournament. These 12 teams will play on a knockout basis.
Meanwhile, the first match of the tournament was played on Sunday between Kashmir United FC and Rangreth FC in which Kashmir United defeated Rangreth 4-1.
The tournament is in memory of Kashmir Valley’s legendary footballer, Late Farooq Ahmad Bhat.
The tournament is being held at Downtown Eidgah Playfield and is organised by Player Welfare Forum Eidgah in collaboration with J&K Football Association. Mr. Fayaz Ahmad Sofi, President DFA Srinagar was the chief guest on the occasion and was accompanied by Mohammad Iqbal, Asst Organizing Secretary DFA Srinagar.
Among others who were present on the occasion where Abdul Hameed Shalla, Abdul Hameed Makaya, Ghulam Ahmad Kumar, Nazir Ahmad Dalal, Farooq Ahmad Bolla, Mushtaq Ahmad Kanth, Lateef Ahmad and others.
