SRINAGAR: Both J&K men’s and women’s U-19 cricket teams suffered defeats in their inaugural matches of the domestic season 2021-22 played.
In Men’s U-19 Vinoo Mankad Trophy match, J&K lost to Vidarbha by 7 wickets on Thursday. J&K’s top scorer in the match was Arya Thakur (45), as J&K was bundled out for 104 runs in 18 overs. In reply, Vidarbha scored the runs with 14 balls to spare and with 7 wickets in hand. The match was played at Daly College Ground, Indore.
In Women’s U-19 One Day Trophy 2021-22, J&K on Thursday suffered a 3-wicket defeat to Sikkim.
Batting first, the J&K team made 78 runs in 35+ overs with half a dozen batswomen failing to open their accounts. Ananya Sharma scored 32* and was the top scorer for J&K.
In reply, the Sikkim team managed to chase the total with 3 wickets to spare. The match was played at Railway Stadium, Bhubaneswar.
This is J&K cricket’s first foray into a domestic season with the BCCI mandated, JKCA Sub-Committee in charge of the selection process.
