Srinagar- A drug peddler was arrested and a contraband substance was recovered from his possession in Wangipora Sumbal area of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Tuesday, police said.
“Acting on a specific information, a police party of Police Station Sumbal led by SHO P/S Sumbal Inspector Mohammad Saleem under the Supervision of SDPO Sumbal Shri Surinder Mohan- JKPS during Naka checking at Sumbal Wangipora Bala arrested one person along with Illicit/contraband dry Bhang leaves 3 Kgs. The accused has been identified as Sameer Ahmad Dar S/o Ab.Hameed Dar R/o Rakh-i- Shilvat Sumbal,” police said in a statement.
“During preliminary enquiry it was revealed that the accused is a drug peddler and is selling the drugs to youths of the area to make them drug addicts,” it said.
“Accordingly case FIR No. 121/2021 under relevant sections of NDPS Act was registered in Police Station Sumbal and further investigation has been taken up,” the statement added.
