Srinagar: A minor boy on Friday was mauled to death by a leopard in Soibugh, area of central Kashmir’s Budgam district.
7-year-old Arhan Showkat Mir of Haran village of Soibugh was outside his home on Friday evening when a leopard appeared there and pounced upon him, reports said. The mutilated body of the minor was recovered by his family and neighbours around 60 meters from his home.
The killing of Arhan comes over three months after a minor girl was mauled to death by a leopard in a similar incident.
On June 5, five-year-old Ada Yasir’s mutilated body was recovered near a nursery in Ompora area of the district after nightlong search by her frantic family members, neighbours and the teams of police and wildlife department.
Her killing by the beast had triggered massive outrage against the alleged failure of wildlife department officials in checking the movement of wild animals into human habitations.
