Srinagar: A teenage girl was killed while six of her family members were injured on Thursday in a mysterious explosion in Handwara area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.
17-year-old Shabnum was killed when an explosion took place at her father Ghulam Mohammad Wani’s house in Maidanpora village of Tarapora area of Handwara on Thursday evening, reports said. Six other members of her family were injured in the blast.
The injured identified as Ghulam Muhammad Wani his wife Raja Begum, daughter Rifat, Janti Begum, and Mukhti Begum were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. However, the doctors there referred Raja Begum and Mukhti Begum to SMHS hospital for specialized treatment.
Meanwhile, Kashmir zone police said that a person died while 6 others were injured due to a blast in scrap material consisting of unexplored shell and grenade.
“In an #unfortunate incident in Tarathpora, #Handwara one person died and 06 others injured. Blast took place in scrap materials consisting of unexplored shell & #grenade which was probably stored in his house. #Investigation going on,” police Tweeted.
