Srinagar:The floods in Kashmir Valley have damaged 494 Aganwari centers fully and 724 partially out of 15095 centers operating here. Similarly, in Jammu division, out of 13514 centers, 20 have been fully damaged and 189 partially.
The information was revealed in a meeting chaired by Minister for Social Welfare, Ms Sakina Itoo.
Besides, ICDS centers have suffered loss to the tune of Rs 9 crore on account of damage to non-nutrition items across the State.
Ms. Sakina also received brief regarding the functioning of Aganwari and other ICDS centers. She instructed to set up makeshift arrangements for damaged centers for the time being besides asking all social welfare field functionaries to set up awareness camps and disseminate as much information about health and hygiene to the people especially children and women. She stressed for close coordination between department and NGOs in this regard.
Mission Director ICDS, Director Social Welfare Kashmir, District Programme Officers , CDPOs and other concerned officers besides members of NGO, Save the Children were present in the meeting.
