Srinagar: To assess the loss and damage caused due to recent floods in the Kashmir Valley as also to review the functioning of the Co-operative Institutions and the Co-operative Department, a meeting of officers of the Cooperative department was convened at the Head Office of J&K State Cooperative Agriculture and Rural Development Bank Haderpora Srinagar today. Secretary, Cooperatives Department Mr. Ramesh Kumar Koul chaired the meeting.
It was reported that the estimated loss to assets due to floods in various financial institution and Cooperative Banks and Cooperative Department in the valley is to the tune of Rs 5.87 Cr approximately.
It was disclosed in the meeting that as on date almost all Branches of all the Cooperative Banks in the Valley are functional and that all types of routine transactions are taking place. Besides, JAKFED has provided 5000 LPG cylinders to the general public without asking for any documentary evidence.
It was stated by the Registrar Co-operative Societies in the meeting that the ground floor of his office at Bemina in Srinagar is still water logged.
The Secretary, Co-operative Department directed all the Chief Executives and MDs and the officers from the Cooperative Department to work out the actual figures on account of the loss and submit the same to the Administrative Department so that the matter is taken up with the concerned authorities for appropriate action.
