Spl Bus for LOC Stranded

SRINAGAR: Three weeks after the devastating floods hit Kashmir, authorities have arranged a special bus service for the stranded passengers of the both sides of the Line of Control.

Regional Passport Officer, Firdous Iqbal who is also a designated authority for the Cross LOC Travel here stated that the decision has been taken to arrange a special bus service for the LOC route so that the stranded passengers of the both sides of divide could reach their respective places.

Mr Iqbal maintained further that in addition to the normal bus service that is being resumed on September 29, a special bus has been arranged for the passengers who were stranded at both sides due to recent floods since September 8. The service came to halt on September 8, a day after floods created havoc on both the sides of the divided line.

Iqbal said that the arrangement has been pressed into service keeping in view the upcoming festival of Eid and also several passengers had submitted before his office about their already lined up vital engagements like resumption of their duties and examinations of their children.

We had to take this step in due course of time as it was the need of the hour. Around 100 people of that side are currently stranded in valley and few from this side of the line are also waiting to come home. On September 26, the passengers of cross LOC are asked to report to SRTC yard which is located at Bemina, Srinagar.

He added that in the morning of September 26, the struck passengers whose travel was due earlier are asked to report to SRTC Bemina so that as per the requirement they could be sent back to their place.
