Srinagar: Expressing deep concern and anguish over the unpleasant incident in Shopian and Kulgam districts, Chairman Hurriyat Conference (G) Sayed Ali Geelani appealed for patience and tolerance to all those related to any sect and school of thought.
According to a statement, he said that at such a time when the fanatic and communal people of India are holding the power, we cant afford the sectarian differences or the religious hatred.
Geelani said that on hearing the reports I personally felt deep sorrow and grief that in some places of district Shopian and Kulgam, the sectarian differences have taken the ugly turn of clashes and the people of the same faith are fighting with each other.
He said that Islam is the religion of peace which gives the lessons of patience, tolerance and forbearance and whenever any person or any group shows any kind of intolerance and uses violent means, his ideology, thinking and his intention are definitely questioned and instead of any benefit, he becomes the cause of harm and damage for the religion.
Geelani said that the small and little differences within the Muslim Ummah were present from the very beginning and those differences were not of such a priority that they would have contradicted each other for that but despite having such differences they were not only tolerating and accommodating each other but they were a united face for the evil forces of that time.
He said that the holy Quran states that a true believer is very tough and strict for the evil but very humble, loving and merciful with each other.
He said that the todays situation is different and the intolerance and contradictory behavior is rising among the Muslims and where on the one hand some conspiracies and policies of the evil forces are behind this and on the other hand some ignorant and self-styled Molvies are also responsible for this mess.
These people have itself become the contractors of the hell and heaven and the people related to the sects or schools of thought other than theirs are considered as out of Islam.
Geelani said that fighting with each other will land us nowhere and it will only harm our collective and mutual cause. Geelani cautioned those elements who are formatting the sectarian differences that if they do not shun their criminal character, they will be exposed before the public.
