Srinagar: Terming the prevailing escalation of tension at Loc between India and Pakistan as a cause of extreme concern, Hurriyat Conference (M) Chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has stressed upon the political leadership of both countries to shun the confrontational path and instead take serious steps to solve Kashmir dispute including all other issues existing between the two nations.
According to a statement issued to KNS, while addressing a Friday gathering at historic Jamia masjid, Mirwaiz stated that calling off foreign secretary level talks by India has inflicted negative impact on their relations and brought both the nuclear powers India and Pakistan on the verge of war.
Unlike 1965 and 1971, Mirwaiz stated that both countries possess nuclear weapons and any military confrontation would lead to massive destruction in India and Pakistan including whole of the region.
Appealing India to change its policy of confrontation, APHC Chairman stated that there was no military solution to Kashmir dispute, neither war can be imposed to solve the vexed dispute.
