SRINAGAR:The Minister of State for Finance and Planning, Dr. Manohar Lal Sharma while replying on behalf of Minister for Power to a Calling Attention Notice by Mr. Syed Asgar Ali said that 850 MW Ratle HEP has been awarded to M/s GVK Development projects limited in June 2010, through tariff based competitive bidding under execution in the IPP mode.
He said that 500 local youth have been employed by the developer as well as their EPC contractor. The work was obstructed at the office of M/S GVK RHEPPL and L&T at Drabshalla, Kishtwar District, J&K on 11-07-2014 due to demand by the locals for engaging greater number of local people in the project and settlement of land compensation cases. He said the matter is expected to be sorted out soon so that work is resumed.
The Minister assured the House that the issues related to employment opportunity for local youth and land compensation would be settled shortly.
