Srinagar: Police Wednesday said that the Kangan youth who had claimed that he was kidnapped by a group of masked men while on way to his home had staged a kidnapping drama.
This alleged kidnapping incident in Burna Bugh Kangan in Central Kashmirs Ganderbal district had sparked a protest on Tuesday while police had said that they have launched a manhunt to trace the alleged kidnappers.
23 years old mechanic Mushtaq Ahmed Mir son of Ghulam Qadir resident of Burna Bugh Kangan went missing from the area after that his family members lodged a missing report in police station.
A police official said that Mir appeared before police on Wednesday and claimed that masked men forcibly disembark him from a moving vehicle. We are investigating the matter while initial investigation has revealed that he has staged this drama to scare his family members. He had a tip off with his family members and to scare them he managed this drama. He is still in lock up and we are questioning him, he said. (CNS)
