Manhunt Launched To Nab Two Suspects In Army Fatigues
Jammu: Four flying objects suspected to be drones were spotted in Jammu and Kashmir’s Samba district, said police. The objects, one near an Army Camp were noticed on the intervening night of Sunday and Monday
Police sources said the four flying objects were spotted in the Bari Brahmana area of Samba district. “Police personnel did not fire at these as they were out of range, but the army was immediately alerted”, sources said.
After confirmation from police about spotting these objects, security forces have been out on high alert in and around the area.
Meanwhile, two unidentified persons donning army fatigues fled the scene after being intercepted by an army man in Jammu, official sources said Monday.
They said that around 3 PM two persons appeared at a barber shop in Mangal Market in vicinity to Railway Station Jammu, seemingly to get their hair trimmed. On drawing suspicion about their appearance, an army person present at the shop, asked the duo to show their identity cards.
The duo however fled the scene soon after, they said.
A manhunt has been subsequently launched in and around the peripheries of Mangal Market to nab the suspected duo, they further said.
Civil, Military Officials Review Situation
Meanwhile top security and administration officials on Monday reviewed the security situation in the Jammu region at a high-level meeting here, officials said.
The security and intelligence review meeting was chaired by General Officer Commanding (GOC) of 16 Corps Lt Gen M V Suchindra Kumar and was attended by senior civil, police, paramilitary, army and intelligence officers at the 16 Corps headquarters in Nagrota, a defence spokesman said.
The meeting sought to achieve enhanced coordination between security, administration and intelligence agencies, he said.
The meeting is significant in the wake of the increasing use of drones by Pakistan to ferry weapons and explosives along the Line of Control and carry out attacks on security establishments in the region.
Lt Gen Kumar appreciated the coordination between the army, security forces and civil administration to maintain peace in the region.
