SRINAGAR: Inspector General of Border Security Force P S Sandhu Tuesday said the militants in Kashmir could make more strikes in order to “justify their presence”. It can be expected as the assembly elections are coming things will hot-up as the situation is tight, he said. I can’t predict what will happen in the next moment at the LoC.
Unless you advertise yourself youll not be noticed. As they say out of sight is out of mind. Militants are doing the same, Sandhu said on the sidelines of a function Pan India Plantation.
He claimed that the militants had been specially communicated by their cadres across LoC not to lose weapons against security forces and step up their activities in the state. They are advertising nothing else. There number has been cut down,
The cat and mouse game, he said, is going to continue not only over here but even in Jammu province as well. There has been the large number of encounter wherein large number of militants was killed, he said. But with every hour the militants are becoming full with desperation.
All militant camps across LoC which is in hundreds are unable to sneak in. This precursory attempt of ceasefire violations is basically a ploy to push those militants across, he said.
Asked about calling off Indo-Pak secretary level talks will escalate militant strikes in Kashmir, he said, it would be pre-mature to talk over its direct implications.
Last time militants attacked BSF in village near orchard field. And other time from bus stand. Our boys would have retaliated in more than equal way. But, ultimately a security personal has to view a minimum collateral damage, he said.
When asked what was the role of such a huge number of BSF deployment in the state he said, that after Kargil war it was decided one agency will task one thing. BSFs role in that manner is to control the LoC and the International Border in Jammu, he said. Other than that, if called for election duty or Amarnath yatra. We are ready for it, he said.
Earlier in the day the event My Earth My Duty- Pan India Plantation drive was organized by BSF Range Kashmir Frontier at STC Camp Humhama in outskirts of the Srinagar city. (GNS)
