SRINAGAR: Describing the yearly meetings of some Hurriyat leaders of Kashmir and Commissioner of Pakistan as unimportant and wastage of time, former interlocutor Professor Radha Kumar Monday said that such meetings do not move Indian political parties and yield no results.
It is a practice of Pakistan to keep some Hurriyat leaders in good humour. The invitations that Pakistan High Commission normally extends to selected Hurriyat leaders have never yield positive results vis-à-vis to Kashmir issue. It would have been better if instead of meeting Pakistan envoy, Hurriyat leaders will meet the representatives of Government of India, Radha Kumar told news agencies over phone from New Delhi adding that resolution of Kashmir issue is both in the interest of India and Pakistan.
Radha Kumar advised Hurriyat leadership to find positive ways and means to resolve the issue. She said that it would yield positive results if people from Pakistan administered Kashmir be allowed to meet any Indian delegation during their Pakistan visit as Hurriyat leaders are allowed to meet Pakistan High Commissioner in New Delhi. This two way traffic will certainly prove effective and will lead to some results as far as Kashmir issue is concerned, she said.
Radha Kumar told CNS that Hurriyat leaders should take all the major and minor political parties into confidence. It will be political parties of India which could play a vital role in the resolution of Kashmir issue, she said.
She welcomed the statement of Indian Home Rajnath Singh in which he said that Kashmir issue would be resolved constitutionally and humanely. This statement on part of Home Minister of India indicates that BJP is serious in resolving Kashmir issue, she said.
