Srinagar: Strongly criticising the statement of Congress spokesperson Manish Tiwari where he has raised a hue and cry over the proposed meeting of Kashmiri resistance leadership with the High Commissioner of Pakistan in New Delhi, the spokesman of APHC has said that by making such statements congress has once again proved that it was never serious in finding solution of Kashmir Issue. He said that Kashmir besides being an internationally recognized dispute has been the main obstacle in developing good neighborly relations between India and Pakistan which has become the main cause of tension and hurdle in creating a co-operative atmosphere in the South Asian Region.
Instead of encouraging the process of talks and consultation among the stake holders of the issue, the Congress folks have chosen to score points by resorting to petty politicking against their contender who made them to suffer a humiliating defeat in the recent parliamentary elections.
The spokesman said that a peaceful resolution through a meaningful dialogue process should remain the eminent priority for the establishment of real peace and violence free South Asia. The people of J&K being the primary stakeholders of the dispute, their right to consultation and participation in any process regarding the resolution of this issue can only be denied by a naive or an extremely irresponsible element.
The spokesman said that history bears testimony to the fact that it was the scheming tactics of congress leadership which created the festering wound of Kashmir issue and thus threw the future of the people of Jammu and Kashmir in uncertainty besides plunging the whole sub-continent into a state of confrontation and mistrust.
The spokesman said that the leadership of APHC since its formation has participated in talks with the leadership of both India and Pakistan (including the leadership of Congress) from time to time with the sole purpose of finding a mutually acceptable and honourable solution of Kashmir Issue. The APHC is committed to this policy and will not hesitate to go for any talks or consultation which aims at helping to find a solution for the vexed issue of Kashmir.
It is under this sprit that chairman APHC Mirwaiz Dr Molvi Muhammad Umar Farooq is going to hold a meeting on the invitation of Pakistan High Commission with the High Commissioner of Pakistan Abdul Basit on 19 August in New Delhi to put forward the stand and viewpoint of APHC regarding Kashmir Issue likely to be discussed in the ensuing Foreign Secretary level talks between India and Pakistan.
The spokesman said that our sincere suggestion to the congress leadership would be to rise to the occasion and exhibit maturity and responsibility where they are seen as promoters rather than the spoilers of any process for creating an environment of peace and progress in the sub-continent. Petty politicking is not going to help congress regain its lost glory, only a responsible conduct, a reasonable approach and the exhibition of patience on its part may make a difference.
Describing the comment of BJP spokesman MJ Akbar as running away from the reality, the spokesman said that the road of economic progress and removal of poverty from the sub-continent passes through the resolution of Kashmir Issue.
