SRINAGAR: Unholy nexus between doctors and private clinic owners in North Kashmirs Handwara town have been irking patients as they allege that doctors are forcing them to consult some particular diagnostic centres to get their different medical tests conducted there.
Look at this prescription. This is from a doctor working in Handwara hospital and in it he has clearly mentioned the name and mobile number of the person, to whom we have been asked to consult and carry tests there, a patient while displaying the prescription vide number 4596 of a doctor told a newsgathering agency.
The patients alleged that instead of carrying medical tests like USG, X-ray, Urine in the hospitals where every facility to carrying out such tests is available, the doctors compel them to get these tests conducted at private centres and the doctors according to patients not only earn commission abut also receive expensive goodies (bribe) from them.
Reports said that majority of the prescriptions prescribed by doctors to different patients carries the name of a particular health care. We demand that Jammu and Kashmir Health Department Authorities to probe the matter and take stern action against such doctors who force patients to approach to a particular private clinic, the patients said.
Director Health, Doctor Salim-ur-Rehman said that it is an offence to pen down the name of a particular private health centre and force patients to get the tests conducted there. I will surely take action and the department will investigate the matter thoroughly, he said.
