SRINAGAR: Two matches of the First Edition JKFA Professional League 2021 were played on Monday at Srinagar’s Synthetic Turf Ground TRC.
Shaheen FC, Jammu took on SCFA XI in the first match of the day which turned out to be an 8-goal thriller.
“Both teams played quality football. The youngsters of SCFA displayed man to man marking and perfect ball control. Shaheen Sports defeated SCFA by 5 goals to 3. Amritpal & Mac scored two goals each, while Gagandeep scored another for Shaheen FC,” a JKFA statement said.
“The youthful SCFA side proved equally good and scored 3 beautiful goals through Parvez (2 goals) and Abinam (1). The SCFA boys played a calculative game and tried to level the score till the very end. But the defensive line of Shaheen Sports prevented them to do so. Amrit Pal Singh was declared as the man of the match,” the statement said.
In the second match, Kashmir Avengers FC faced Real Kashmir FC (Reserves).
Both teams created scoring opportunities from the get-go and in the 20th minute the Avengers took the lead. The Real Kashmir reserves’ team had a glorious opportunity to level the proceedings but failed to score from the penalty spot. This ensured that the Kashmir Avengers took a 1:0 lead going into the second half of the match.
RKFC tried hard to find the back of the net but failed. The Avengers took advantage of their opponent’s desperation and in the 55th minute of the match, Kelvin of doubled their lead, thanks to a mistake by Real Kashmir goalkeeper. Kelvin then added Avengers’ third goal in the 75th minute. The match ended with Kashmir Avengers FC defeating Real Kashmir FC (R) by 3 goals to nil. Kelvin of Kashmir Avengers FC was declared as man of the match.
Ms Nuzhat Gul, Secretarym JK Sports Council was present on the occasion and lauded both the clubs for their magnificent footballing display.
Two matches will be played on Tuesday, July 27. The first match will be played between Lonestar Kashmir FC & Hyderya Sports FC at 3:00 pm while in the second match, SCFA XI will take on Downtown Heroes FC at 5:00 pm.
