Srinagar : Wondering over two announcements made by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Congress party Friday said that they dont know when and how the State Government decided to give reservation to Pahari Speaking people.
I dont anything about it. To reduce electricity duty and to provide reservation may be a collective decision that have been taken in Coordination Committee. But, honestly, I am unaware about this development, senior Congress leader Taj Mohi-u-Din said.
Another Congress leader Ghulam Ahmed Mir said that he doesnt know what is this reservation for? Whether this reservation is aimed at to give benefit to Pahari speaking people in government jobs or in other matters. I know nothing about it, Mir .
Mir however revealed that the matter about the reduction in electricity duty came up for discussion in different Cabinet meeting and in principle, both the Coalition partners had agreed to give some relief to the people.
State Congress president, Professor Saifudin Soz categorically said that no such decisions have been taken in Coordination Committee and it is not a collective decision. I am collecting details about what the Chief Minister has said and only after going through those details I will be able to make an appropriate comment, Soz said..
The Chief Minister also announced reduction of Electricity Duty by 12 percent bringing it down from present 22 percent to 10 percent. He also announced 5 percent reservation quota for Pahari speaking people and 2 percent in favour of OBCs
