Srinagar: Police on Saturday claimed to have solved a theft case by arresting two accused persons from south Kashmir’s Anantnag district.
According to a police spokesperson, Mohammad Jabbar Dar of Guree filed a written complaint with police claiming that some unknown thieves have stolen golden ornaments worth around Rs 2 lakh from his residential house. On the basis of complaint, he said, a case FIR No. 213/2021 under relevant sections of law was registered in Police Station Bijbehara and investigation was initiated.
During the course of investigation, the police spokesperson said that the officers led by SHO Bijbehara using all available means, zeroed in on one suspect identified as Shahid Afredi Dar of Guree Hanjipora Anantnag.
“When officers spoke to him, they learnt about his involvement in the commission of crime,” he said.
The police spokesperson added that during further questioning, Dar also confessed that he has sold the stolen ornaments to Adil Ahmad Dar, a resident of Guree, who runs a jewellery shop at Pomposh Mohalla Anantnag.
“Subsequently, the stolen property was recovered from the said jewellery shop. Both the accused persons have been arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody. Further investigation of the case is in progress,” he added.
