SRINAGAR: On the eve of Indias Independence Day, the armies of India and Pakistan army on Thursday exchanged fire along Line of Control in Poonch district, sources said.
Sources said that the Pakistan army initially fired at Indian posts at Trikundi Nallah in Balakote sector of the district this morning. The firing started at 6:00 am and continued till 9:00 am. After Pakistan firing, the Indian army retaliated, they said, adding no one was injured during firing.
The firing came on the day when Pakistan is celebrating its Independence Day while India will celebrate tomorrow on Friday.
At 5:00 pm, the sources said, Pakistani forces started firing mortars along LoC at Panjini Nallah. The locals alleged that the Pakistani mortars landed into civilian areas causing fear and panic among them. The shelling continued till 6:30 pm.
Since a week, there has been continuous firing along LoC between the two armies in Poonch.
