SRINAGAR: People in the Saffron town Pampore Thursday alleged the police and security forces had launched a “revenge operation” following two militant attacks early this week. They attack had left two policemen and a civilian dead near Galandar Pampore on Srinagar national highway.
We have inputs that three militants were on board in a white Scorpio vehicle that zoomed away from the spot after the attack. We have got some important leads and hopefully we will not only arrest the assailants but will also seize the vehicle, CNS quoted an unnamed police official as saying.
He said that in a bid to trace the vehicle, police, CRPF and Army cordoned off different areas of Pampore including Dajibagh, Sambaoora, Patalbagh and other hamlets and conducted thorough search operations. However, no arrests were made during the search operations.
Initial investigation has revealed that militants might be hiding in adjoining areas of Pampore. Investigation further reveals that same group of militants carried out Kadlabal and Galandar attack, the police official said.
Reports said that scores of people in Galandar, Sambora and other areas were made to assemble at one place and were questioned about the Galandar incident.
