Srinagar: Police on Thursday claimed to have arrested three militant associates of Lashkar-e-Taiba and recovered one pistol along with ammunition, fake SIM cards, forged documents and other incriminating material from their possession.
Suhaib Ah Malik alias Asif and Aejaz Najar of Gundpora and Touseef Sheikh of Chittaybanday Bandipora were arrested by a joint team of police, army’s 14RR and the personnel of CRPF 3rd battalion on the basis of a specific input, a police spokesperson said. The trio, he said, were working for LeT outfit and in order to further their activities were providing fake sim cards for the militants.
The police spokesperson further claimed that the trio were in contact with LeT militant Shakir and operational commander Babar, both of whom are presently in Pck. Babar, he said, had tasked the module for surveillance of police, security forces and political functionaries in the area.
“Babar had also promised the trio the supply of three AK rifles in coming days so that they could formally join the terror ranks. They were further tasked to carry out weapon snatching till the consignment of weapons could be smuggled in and delivered,” he said
“In this regard case FIR number 26/2021 U/S,468, 471, 120B,IPC 7/25 Arms Act was registered in PS Argam and further investigation is going on,” he added.
