SRINAGAR: Kashmir Valley’s football fraternity including various associations, football clubs as well as departmental teams on Wednesday condoled the demise of young football player Gulzar Ahmad Khan.
According to various reports, the well-known footballer in Srinagar’s footballing circles died after battling a brief illness. A resident of Rainawari, Gulzar played for Iqbal Sports Club, Court Road FC, YMCA, PDC among other clubs and was well reputed for his sound character and love for the game.
“J&K Football Association (JKFA) deeply mourns the sad demise of Gulzar Ahmad who left for heavenly abode on July 14, 2021. Gulzar was a young football player and a member of JKSPDC Football Club. A polite gentleman full of virtues always helping others. He was an ace footballer and a good human being. JKFA shares the grief with the bereaved family at this sad hour,” J&K’s premier footballing authority the JKFA said in a statement.
National & International Footballers Forum (NIFF) J&K also released a statement to condole the passing away of the young footballer.
“May his soul rest in peace and may Allah Almighty grant him highest place in Jannat. He was a reputed footballer with sound character who played for Iqbal Sports, YMCA, PDC and many other clubs. He will be always remembered for his contribution,” NIFF said.
Valley’s grassroots football clubs like Court Road FC, Iqbal Sports, Gung Bugh FC as well as departmental teams like Food & Supply and JKPDC FC also condoled the demise and prayed for the departed soul.
The Court Road FC management held a special condolence meeting at its head office in Malik Angan, Fateh Kadal. The management prayed for the pious soul and remembered Gulzar as an excellent footballer.
