SRINAGAR: The First Edition of JKFA organised Professional League 2021 kick started on Monday with two matches played at the Synthetic Turf Ground TRC, Srinagar.
In the first match of the day, Downtown Heroes FC took on Kashmir Avengers FC.
“Both the teams played quality football and missed some good chances to score. Their efforts were duly applauded by the spectators. Perfect ball control, man to man marking, superb head work were the main features of the game. In the 42nd minute of the first half, Kwesi Sessy of Downtown Heroes FC, scored a magnificent goal which took every body by surprise. At half time, Downtown Hero’s FC was leading by a solitary goal. In the 55th minute of the game Downtown Heroes FC consolidated their lead by scoring another goal through Hanan. The Young Turks of Kashmir Avengers tried their utmost to find their opponent’s net but could not penetrate the solid defence of the Heroes. However in the dying moments of the match Kashmir Avengers missed a sure shot goal. The match ended with Downtown Heroes defeating Kashmir Avengers by 2 goals to nil,” the JKFA said in a statement.
The second Professional League 2021 match was played between Lonestar Kashmir FC and Shaheen FC Jammu.
“The match started with both the teams exhibiting aggressive football. In the beginning both clubs dominated the show and created certain beautiful moves at the goal. The solid defence of both the teams denied either side the opportunity to score a goal. The first half ended goalless. In the 60th minute Lonestar KFC missed an opportunity to score. Shaheen FC Jammu exhibited quality football and their man to man marking was superb. In the dying movements of the match Lonestar KFC made a drastic move to the surprise of the spectators and took the lead by scoring a goal. The match ended with 1:0 in favour of LKFC,” the statement added.
Two matches of the JKFA Pro League are scheduled to be played today. In the first match at 4:30 pm SCFA will take on Real Kashmir Reserves while in the 2nd match J&K Bank XI will go head to head with Hyderya Sports FC at 6:30 pm, under flood lights.
The tournament is organized by J&K Football Association in collaboration with J&K Sports Council and will see a total of 8 teams compete against each other. Top two teams will be nominated to play the I-League 2nd Division 2021-22.
